Samsung Galaxy S III handles drops worse than iPhone 4

Image
If you have an iPhone 4 and you’re thinking of making the swap over to Android, then hopefully the ability of your phone to fully survive being dropped multiple times isn’t on your list of needed requirements. The latest and greatest Android device, Samsung’s Galaxy S III handset, withstands damage nowhere near as well as the iPhone 4, according to SquareTrade.

The Galaxy S III is Samsung’s coming-of-age

Image
Samsung’s Galaxy S III is going to sell incredibly well in the US, there’s no doubt about that, but what’s impressive is the exact phone – not phones – that will be setting those records. The Korean company has previously seen its US launches hamstrung by each carrier demanding a specially-crafted version of whichever device is next on the roadmap, a time-wasting process that’s of arguably little benefit to end-users. The five US carrier launch of the Galaxy S III, though, sees all that change. One design, one name, one more notch on Samsung’s rise in the smartphone business.

Samsung speaks on blue Galaxy S III delay: “high standards” to blame

Image
Samsung has finally stumped up a statement on the Galaxy S III Pebble Blue delay, admitting that quality control issues around the “newly invented” color and special coating will indeed result in 2-3 week shortages. “In order to meet the highest internal quality standards and to provide the best quality Galaxy SIII to customers,” Samsung told retailer MobileFun, ”a short supply of Pebble Blue version is expected in some regions.”

Galaxy S III: It’s not for you

Image
While I was sitting at the Samsung Galaxy S III event yesterday evening at Earl’s Court, I started to notice a trend. The official announcement and hands-on posts for the phone had already gone up ahead of the event, and the opinions began to flood in via Twitter during the course of the show. The general sentiment was one of disappointment, with prominent tech writers as well as internet commenters sending negative thoughts and opinions towards the most anticipated phone since the last iPhone. Why?

Now that we’ve got our claws on the Galaxy S III for real, we’re another step closer to comparing it to Samsung’s biggest rival for the year: the iPhone 5 .  In the next-generation Apple smartphone you’ll find not just a step up in the selection of specification bumps you’ve seen today from Samsung, you’ll see a whole one-ness that encapsulates the smartphone experience. You’ll be wondering if that’s what Samsung meant today when they said that this Galaxy S device was “Inspired by nature, designed for humans” without a doubt.

Samsung Galaxy S III Pre-Launch Rumor Round-up

Image
Tomorrow the Samsung Galaxy S III will be unveiled at the end of a long line of rumors, tips, and leaks which we’ve collected here. The collection of details that’ve thus far been released will culminate in theSamsung Unpacked event we’re attending tomorrow in London, this event set to show off the next-generation Samsung smartphone in all its glory. Though you should, as always, take these tips with a healthy grain of salt, there’s also a lot to be said for collecting and comparing them all against one another.

Inventory leak shows Galaxy S III will come in blue or white

Image
We’re only a day away from the Galaxy S III unveil, and last minute leaks are starting to find their way to the internet. First up, GSMArena has been tipped a screenshot showing the inventory system for Carphone Warehouse, a UK phone retailer. The inventory lists the Galaxy S III as being available in both blue and white, which matches the two blobs that we saw on the invitation to the event.

Galaxy S III fake appears in the wild

Image
Now that the Samsung Galaxy S III rumors have ramped up considerably, now that we’re literally less than a couple weeks away from the release of this device, the fakes have been piling up as fast as the real leaks. There’s not a whole lot of difference between the “real” leaks and the “fakes,” but there’s fabulous examples of both right here, Samsung for everyone. Have a peek at this newest creation we’ve received in the mail just today from an anonymous donor.

You want a Galaxy S III, not a Google Galaxy Nexus

Image
This week Google revealed that they’d be selling their own devices once again, so to speak, with a Galaxy Nexus in-store before the Samsung Galaxy S III release. Of course Samsung manufactures both of these devices, and only one will be hitting your pocket for the Summer – so what’s it going to be? Google wont be carrying the Galaxy S III, but it will have Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich – but the Galaxy Nexus has that software in the nude.

Will the real Galaxy S III please stand up?

Image
In just a week's time -- that's seven long days if you're an Android fan -- Samsung will take the stage in London to unveil the next Galaxy smartphone.   If you ask me, the May 3 event isn't a moment too soon. Over the last few months, we've seen a constant stream of purported specs, rumored details, and conjecture. In fact, when I look back over the history of Android, I can't think of another smartphone that has garnered this level of prerelease hysteria. Might this be the Galaxy S III? (Credit: SamMobile)

Samsung Galaxy S III caught in the wild

Image
It’s time to get your Samsung cheering flags out because the Galaxy S III has just been captured by intrepid sneaksters before its launch on near-blurry-cam, front and back. This device is set to be Samsung’s new hero device and will be announced at the start of May at a special Samsung event, with no less than a 12 megapixel camera on the back and an advanced display on the front made to make the rest of the smartphone world look dated. This device appears to be a bit heavier yet thinner at the same time than Samsung’s current Galaxy S II line.

Samsung Galaxy S III vs HTC One series: the future war

Image
This Summer’s biggest decision for top-tier smartphone customers looking to switch up to the best of the best will be which of the two they’ll be choosing: a member of the HTC One family or the inevitableSamsung Galaxy S III. At the moment there’s a bit of a block in the way of deciding as the Galaxy S III has not yet been detailed, only having leaks and whispers of details released thus far. On the other hand, Samsung has released a massive amount of smartphones (and tablets) since the last hero in the Galaxy S II, and much is to be gleaned and used in a preview-sort of decision right now before the HTC One series is released in the USA as well.
