The Samsung I9300 might be the Galaxy M, a mid-range Android device
A little over a week ago, we reported on a certain handset with the codename I9300. As it turns out according to a tip sent in to GSM Arena, the Samsung I9300 handset will be known as the Galaxy M rather than the highly-anticipated Galaxy S3.
If this turns out to be true, it might explain quite a lot of things. For starters the leaked image that accompanied the I9300 did not look anything like what an upcoming Samsung flagship device might look like.
Secondly it would also corroborate earlier leaks that outed the I9300 as having a display resolution of only 1024×600, a display resolution that many would agree would not do Samsung’s upcoming flagship device any justice.
Many had made the assumption (including us) that the I9300 was referring to the Galaxy S3. This made sense due to the naming pattern of the Galaxy S2 and the Galaxy Nexus, both of which had model numbers I9200 and I9250 respectively, therefore logically speaking it would only make sense for the Galaxy S3 to be given the model number I9300. In any case, according to the tip, the Galaxy M is slated for a mid-May release and will more than likely be a mid-ranged Android powered handset. Assuming the tip is any good, this could mean that an announcement is imminent. Until then, stay tuned!
