Samsung speaks on blue Galaxy S III delay: “high standards” to blame

Samsung has finally stumped up a statement on the Galaxy S III Pebble Blue delay, admitting that quality control issues around the “newly invented” color and special coating will indeed result in 2-3 week shortages. “In order to meet the highest internal quality standards and to provide the best quality Galaxy SIII to customers,” Samsung told retailer MobileFun, ”a short supply of Pebble Blue version is expected in some regions.”

This week Apple has been tipped to be releasing a non-Google maps iteration on their iPhone 5 once the device has been prepared for a third-quarter announcement, this mapping technology bringing “next-level” realness and fabulous technological breakthroughs galore. Motorola DROID RAZR now available in blue

First there was the DROID RAZR. Then, there was the DROID RAZR MAXX. And now there’s the DROID RAZR in blue, although just like the white version before it, it’s more of a blue trim than a blue phone.Verizon has announced that the blue version will be in “select stores” starting from today, with online ordering possible from May 17th. Otherwise it’s the exactly the same phone.

The wait is finally over, UK Lumia fans. If the Lumia 800 with its 3.7-inch screen wasn’t quite big enough for you, the 4.3-inch  Lumia 900  is now available for you to purchase. RIM makes BlackBerry Curve 9320 official

Specs won’t blow you away, but for an entry-level device it should be serviceable: a 2.4-inch 320×240 screen, 806Mhz processor, 3.2 megapixel camera, BlackBerry OS 7.1, and a 1,450mAh battery.

Nokia to Rollout Fix for Purple Issue on Some Lumia 900 Phones

If you’ve been noticing that your Nokia Lumia 900 has been showing gray colors as purple when your device is on a low brightness setting, don’t worry because Nokia has been informed of the problem and it seems like they know the solution. According to a report, a suggested reason as to why the existence of the purple hue comes about is due to the calibration of the AMOLED screen. After receiving a tweet from a user highlighting the problem, Nokia Care US replied that the company has acknowledged the issue, identified the problem and that it is fixable with a software update.

Apple iPhone gamers spend five times more than Android gamers

A new study has found that while mobile gaming has seen sharp increases across the board, there is no doubt who the winner is when it comes to how much customers are actually spending on their mobile game experiences. The average iPhone/iPad gamer is spending about five times more money on their mobile games than the average Android gamer. That is the result found from research firm Newzoo, which looked at actual data from iOS and Android downloads as well as 17,000 survey respondants.

Instagram hits 50 million users

Facebook buying Instagram for $1 billion might be pretty cool, but the service hitting 50 million registered users is even cooler. Spurred on by the acquisition, plus the recent release of Instagram for Android, users are falling over themselves to get on board the image sharing service. According to the Instagram API, new users are joining at a rate of 5 million per week.

Inventory leak shows Galaxy S III will come in blue or white

We’re only a day away from the Galaxy S III unveil, and last minute leaks are starting to find their way to the internet. First up, GSMArena has been tipped a screenshot showing the inventory system for Carphone Warehouse, a UK phone retailer. The inventory lists the Galaxy S III as being available in both blue and white, which matches the two blobs that we saw on the invitation to the event.

Nokia sues HTC, RIM, and Viewsonic for patent infringement

Looks like Nokia isn’t content with playing fair and square in the US smartphone market. The company has just announced that it is filing suit against HTC, RIM, and Viewsonic for patent infringement. Nokia claims that the companies make use of 45 patents that belong to Nokia without a proper license. The Finnish smartphone manufacturer will be bringing the suit against the companies in the US and Germany.
